Introducing The New Roger Dubuis Excalibur Orbis in Machina Central Monotourbillon

Roger Dubuis takes tourbillon complexity to the extreme with The Central Flying Tourbillon

At Watches & Wonders Geneva 2024Roger Dubuis made a bold statement by celebrating the tourbillon in all its forms through four remarkable releases. Each new timepiece unveils unique mechanics and breathtaking aesthetics, reaffirming Roger Dubuis' unparalleled craftsmanship. Among these exceptional tourbillon releases is the Excalibur Orbis in Machina Central Monotourbillon, representing the epitome of tourbillon innovation by Vacheron.

The Central Monotourbillon stands as a rarity in watchmaking, presenting numerous challenges in its creation, including reimagining the display of the hands and redistributing movement components around the tourbillon. Roger Dubuis has embraced this challenge with ingenuity and expertise.

This timepiece presents a pink gold case with an open case back crafted from sapphire crystal, boasting a diameter of 45 millimeters and a thickness of 14.41 millimeters, achieving a harmonious blend of size and sophistication. With a water resistance of 50 meters, it ensures reliability in diverse environments. The Roger Dubuis signature touches are evident in the notched bezel, intricate crown, and unique triple lugs, adding refinement to its design.

In terms of dial design, the creativity of the company shines through in the multi-level, three-dimensional dial of the Orbis in Machina. Notably, the outermost satin-brushed grey two-sided flange features 11 polished pink gold-plated hour indices with Super-LumiNova inserts, along with the logo positioned at 12 o'clock. The middle ring showcases a grey satin-brushed minutes ring with gold-colored markers, while the smallest disc features grey satin-brushed seconds markers. The hours and minutes are indicated by satin-brushed pink gold-plated open-worked hands mounted on rotating discs, with white Super-LumiNova applied to their inner parts, while the seconds are indicated by the gold-colored arrowhead-shaped tip of the hand attached to the tourbillon cage.

In contrast to the typical Roger Dubuis position at 7 o’clock, the flying tourbillon sits elegantly at the center, creating a beautiful concentricity. The mechanism itself has been refined and compacted, thanks to a new patent-pending planetary system, which not only creates more space but also establishes an alternative look compared to other tourbillons of the past.

The transparent case back reveals the beauty of the manual-winding Caliber RD115, this caliber the company used before in the Knights of the Round Table Mono-Tourbillon special edition. With 283 components and 29 rubies, the Caliber RD115 is a Flying Tourbillon, boasting a 21,600 vibrations/hour frequency and a 72-hour power reserve, offering impressive aesthetics and complexity.

The new Roger Dubuis Excalibur Orbis in Machina Central Monotourbillon features a calf leather strap with a Quick Release System for easy changing, closed with a triple folding buckle in pink gold. Exclusive to boutiques, the Orbis in Machina is limited to 88 pieces, with a price of EUR 200,800, equivalent to 785,000 AED.
