The Independent Watchmaker Presents the Second Generation of the "Régulateur à Détente"
Raúl Pagès, one of the most talented independent watchmakers in recent years, gained fame with his Régulateur à Détente RP1, a three-hand watch that led him to win the inaugural Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives. He even launched a special edition of the watch in collaboration with one of the greatest enamel artists in the watch industry Anita Porchet, unveiling three special timepieces.
However, the RP1 chapter has come to an end, and after three years, Raúl unveils a new chapter in his design journey. Just days before Watches and Wonders 2025, he introduces the RP2. With a new design and a new movement, the RP2 retains the high-end finishing that Raúl consistently delivers in his watches. He focuses on a simple, practical design, allowing each component to shine through meticulous finishing.
The case is made of stainless steel, maintaining the same 38.5 mm diameter as its predecessor but now 1 mm thicker, measuring 11.5 mm high, including the domed crystal. The case features a narrow, stepped bezel that maximizes the dial opening.
The multi-part dial consists of a brass base coated in pale blue, topped with a white agate disc. According to Mr. Pagès, the mineral stone was chosen as a nod to his first-ever wristwatch, the Soberly Onyx, which had a black onyx dial.
The hands are made of stainless steel and are hand-finished. They draw inspiration from Breguet, with the hour hand featuring an unusual detail, its tip is secured by a visible rivet.
Powering the watch is the new RP2 hand-wound movement. The RP2 movement adheres to the traditional styling of the RP1 but features a larger 12.5 mm balance wheel. It beats at 3 Hz, faster than the previous movement's 2.5 Hz.
It also offers a longer power reserve of 60 hours compared to 47 hours in the RP1. Raúl has manually finished each component of the movement to an exceptional standard.
The watch comes with two different leather straps. The pin buckle is engraved with the watchmaker's initials. This limited edition is restricted to just 50 pieces, to be delivered over the next five years. The price is CHF 89,000, approximately equivalent to AED 370,700.
