Louis Erard Collaborates with GoS on the Latest Edition of Le Régulateur

In December 2021, Louis Erard and GoS Watches were brought together by Manuel Emch, the visionary behind Louis Erard's strategic revival and creative transformation. He found a kindred spirit in Patrik Sjögren, watchmaker and founder of the Swedish atelier GoS, renowned for its mastery of Damascus steel.

Together, they envisioned a timepiece that would seamlessly blend the essence of both Maisons: the technical precision and aesthetic refinement of the Swiss Jura, married to the artistry of a Swedish forge, where Damascus steel is meticulously crafted into mesmerizing patterns through an almost alchemical process.

Introducing Speake-Marin Reveals the Ripples Gold

The first addition to the sporty-elegant collection in rose gold

In 2022, Speake-Marin enhanced its diverse and cohesive lineup with the "Ripples" collection, expanding the brand's offerings by introducing a new range with an elegant sporty character. Over the years, this collection has appeared in various versions powered by in-house self-winding mechanical movements with meticulous finishing. All editions were crafted from steel and featured the distinctive small seconds hand positioned at 1:30, along with a prominent sub-dial on the horizontally waved dial, exclusive to the collection and bearing its name. The latest of these was the first skeletonized watch in the "Ripples" collection, the "Ripples Skeleton," which the brand introduced late last year.

Now, for Watches and Wonders 2025, Speake-Marin unveils the "Ripples Gold" edition, the first watch in the collection crafted from rose gold, highlighting the timepiece's refined and luxurious character, making it even more distinctive.

The new Ripples Gold features the iconic “La City” case, designed by Stéphane Lacroix. It combines circular and square elements with a complex architecture comprising 40 components. Like other pieces in the Ripples collection, it measures 40.30 mm in diameter, has a thickness of 9.20 mm, and offers water resistance up to 50 meters. For the first time, “La City” is crafted in 4N rose gold, an 18-carat gold alloy consisting of 75% gold, 9% silver, and 16% copper.

The case features a faceted structure with a combination of exquisite matte and polished finishes. The square-shaped bezel, with its rounded corners, has polished beveled edges and satin-brushed surfaces. The case band is also satin-brushed, as is the protected screw-in crown with its fluted decoration and laser-engraved logo. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects both the dial and the case back.

The dial consists of a rhodium-plated brass plate engraved with the iconic horizontal waves, each meticulously satin-brushed by hand. The zapon finish provides a golden-brown light reflection, an unprecedented shade in the collection that beautifully complements the warm tone of the rose gold case. The wave motif also creates dynamic light effects that enhance legibility, aided by the 4N gold polished cut diamond hour markers and hands. At the center of the display, the hour and minute hands echo the shape of Big Ben, paying homage to Speake-Marin’s British origins.

In rose gold, the hands harmoniously match the hue of the small seconds counter with its elegant sunray finish, an undisputed signature of the brand due to its unconventional positioning at 1:30. This unusual arrangement required a complete redesign of the caliber to ensure that the gear train did not interfere with the time-setting mechanism.

The Ripples Gold is powered by the manufacture self-winding mechanical movement, the SMA03-T caliber, designed, assembled, and tested at Le Cercle des Horlogers, Speake-Marin’s in-house workshop. Designers and master watchmakers engineered it in parallel with the aesthetics of the Ripples collection to perfectly match the case shape. It is equipped with a balance wheel oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and a single barrel that guarantees a 52-hour power reserve when the watch is not worn.

A key element of the SMA03-T caliber is the off-center micro-rotor in tungsten, a metal with superior density compared to 22K gold, making it heavier and thus optimizing the watch’s winding efficiency. It is fully integrated into the mechanical structure, allowing the caliber, and therefore the case, to remain slim.

Another new addition to the collection is the mocha-colored calf leather strap with an embossed denim motif, attached to the large, polished central lugs designed to integrate it perfectly. It fastens to the wrist with a 4N rose gold and titanium folding clasp. The Speake-Marin Ripples Gold is priced at 29,900 CHF, approximately 124,200 AED.
