Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Frankfurt Financial District Watches Collection
In September 1999, Lothar Schmidt, owner of Sinn Spezialuhren, introduced a groundbreaking timepiece, the Frankfurt Financial District Watch 6000, at the Frankfurt Museum of Prehistory and Early History. This watch marked the beginning of a distinguished line that has become an integral part of Sinn's legacy. Until that point, Sinn Spezialuhren was primarily known for creating instrument watches tailored for pilots and divers.
The concept for the Frankfurt Financial District Watch 6000 originated from a suggestion by Dr. Hartmut Schwesinger of the Frankfurt Economic Development Agency. Lothar Schmidt eagerly embraced the idea, recognizing its potential to connect the brand with the globalized and interconnected economy. The watch was designed to represent the three major time zones of Asia, Europe, and America, reflecting trading times in Tokyo, Frankfurt, and New York. A chronograph capable of displaying these three time zones was the natural outcome.
Now, the company unveils the 6000 Anniversary III, a special edition limited to 250 pieces. This timepiece embodies timeless elegance, technical mastery, and a deep connection to Frankfurt, the city where Sinn is headquartered.
The watch features a classic 38.5 mm satin-finished case, exuding sophistication and functionality. Despite its compact diameter, the case has a thickness of 15.5 mm, giving it a substantial presence. The sapphire crystal on both sides ensures durability and clarity, while the case offers water resistance up to 100 meters.
The galvanised silver-plated dial, adorned with a sunburst decoration, debuts in this model series. Its elegant silver tone is complemented by glossy blue-framed hour and minute hands and hand-applied appliqués—another first for the Frankfurt Financial District Watches. Together, these elements give the dial a fresh and striking appearance.
The first time zone is displayed by the central hands, the second by an arrow-shaped hand, and the third by an inner bezel featuring bold Arabic numerals. The tricompax chronograph layout includes a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock, with a date window subtly positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock for added functionality.
The transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the finely finished mechanics of the column-wheel chronograph. Powered by the La Joux-Perret Caliber L110, this automatic movement operates at 4 Hz and provides an impressive 60-hour power reserve. The rotor is intricately engraved with the Frankfurt skyline and features an individual limited-edition number, adding a personal touch to each piece.
The watch is paired with a polished stainless steel bracelet, perfectly complementing its refined aesthetic. Limited to just 250 pieces, the 6000 Anniversary III is priced at EUR 4,450, approximately AED 17,000.
