The Excalibur Bi-Retrograde Calendar by Roger Dubuis

This year, Roger Dubuis celebrates its 30th anniversary, and for the occasion, the company pays tribute to its co-founder’s favourite complication: the bi-retrograde display.

This function, previously featured in the Excalibur Grande Complication alongside a dozen other highly complex mechanisms, takes centre stage once again. The Maison has also introduced a less complicated, more classic edition to further honour the bi-retrograde display.

Also referred to as “the ecliptic counters” by the Maison a nod to their elliptical shape and distinctive role in indicating the months and date the design showcases a symmetrical dial layout. Enhanced by refined detailing, it pays homage to the Maison’s early creations from 1996.

Since its first diver's watch in 1965, Seiko has continually pushed the boundaries of innovation, technology, and design, shaping the Prospex diver's watch collection that we witness today. One of the iconic Seiko diving watches is the Marinemaster. Originally launched in 1999, the Marinemaster earned its place as one of Japan's most emblematic diver's watches. However, in 2018, the Marinemaster was discontinued.

Yet, in a move that delighted fans, Seiko resurrected the Marinemaster last year, reintroducing this timepiece under the Prospex collection. Now, Seiko expands the resurrected Marinemaster collection with two new variants, adorned in green and blue.

Besides the color differences, the latest watches maintain identical technical specifications to last year's releases. These include a stainless steel case with a diameter of 39.5mm and a thickness of 12.3mm, featuring brushed and polished finishes, a screw-down crown, and a unidirectional bezel with a 60-minute scale and metallic insert in blue or black. Additionally, the case boasts a box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a see-through screwed caseback, ensuring 200 meters of water resistance.

As mentioned, the new dials come in blue and green hues. Both still feature the horizontal stripes pattern, a date window at 4:30, and both have LumiBrite coating on the hands and indices, which is a luminous paint that glows in low-light conditions.

The watch is powered by the Calibre 6L37, an in-house automatic movement that operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offers a 45-hour power reserve. It comes with a stainless steel bracelet featuring a three-fold clasp with a push-button release. Both watches are part of the permanent collection, priced at EUR 3,400, equivalent to AED 13,600.
