A Dial That Tells The Tales of Legends Inside a Pink Gold Case
Roger Dubuis is known for its bold designs and artistic innovations, seeking to challenge the traditional rules of watchmaking. The brand presents innovative designs that reflect the spirit of adventure and art. It focuses on creating unique pieces of art, incorporating mythological and historical elements into its designs, which allows each release to tell a unique story. Today, the brand unveils its latest release from the Knights of the Round Table collection, the Omniscient Merlin watch, inspired by the tale of the wizard Merlin and King Arthur, making it a living embodiment of art and storytelling.
The watch is housed in a 45mm case made of 18k pink gold, complete with a crown protector that resembles a sword guard. It features a notable notched bezel and three elegantly arched lugs, enhancing its overall design. Adding to its allure, the watch features intricate detailing that enhances its luxurious appearance. Both the dial and movement are protected by a sapphire crystal, ensuring durability, the caseback is inspired by the stained-glass windows of medieval castles, and the watch is water-resistant up to 30 meters.
The dial Inspired by the story of the Magician and the King, features a stunning array of 18K pink gold, meticulously crafted into a series of holes and hexagonal sections. Enhanced with a layer of black PVD, some pink gold elements beneath are revealed through precise laser techniques, adding depth with a sunray pattern. The hour and minute hands, positioned in the center of the dial, are also made of pink gold. At the heart of the scene, twelve finely engraved knights are called to adventure; they surround the ring, standing on a path that leads them toward the Causeway. Behind each one of them is a gold hour indicator on the edge.
The watch is driven by the automatic Monobalancier RD821 calibre, expertly created in-house at the Maison's integrated workshop. This remarkable movement consists of 172 components and features 14 distinct types of hand-finishing throughout, adhering to the stringent criteria of the Poinçon de Genève. With a power reserve of 48 hours and a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz), this timepiece demonstrates outstanding craftsmanship and precision.
It features a black calfskin leather strap, complemented by a pink gold folding buckle and a modern Quick Release System for easy adjustments. It's a limited edition of 28 pieces.
