Including a vibrant new color, marking Richard Mille's first release of the year. The journey of Richard Mille's rectangular watches began in 2007 with the RM 016, followed by the RM 16-01 in 2019, which was part of the Bonbon collection inspired by candy. Now, the company reveals the RM 16-02 editions in burgundy and silver titanium.
The case dimensions measure 36 mm in width, 45.64 mm in length, and a thickness of no more than 9.5 mm. These new editions feature a rectangular shape with a unique identity within the Richard Mille collection. They maintain a curvature that follows the distinctive wrist shape, ensuring the comfort and fit for the wrist that the brand is known for.

The RM 16-02 Automatic Extra Flat watch is available in two distinctive case options. The first is made of grade 5 titanium, showcasing a mix of fine finishes with microblasted and microblasted. The second option, which is more eye-catching, is made from a "TPT Quartz Terracotta" composite, a striking burgundy color that is a first of its kind for Richard Mille.
This unique grade is achieved through an advanced process where extremely fine silica strands (with a diameter of only 45 microns) are injected with a colored matrix, stacked at a 45° angle between layers, and exposed to high heat and pressure (120 degrees Celsius at 6 bar). The result is a raw composite material that is ground down to become part of the case, complemented by a structure made of Creamy White Quartz TPT to achieve a stunning contrast.
The open dial of the watch showcases the intricate design of the movement, with chamfered edges and bridges treated with a layer of black PVD revealing a complex interplay of shapes and depth. Visually, the indices follow a thread-like design, inspired by the Greek myth of "Ariadne," which tells the story of the thread used to escape a complex labyrinth.
This watch operates with the brand-new automatic movement, caliber CRMA9, which is a skeletonized movement. It measures 26 mm in width, 31.25 mm in length, and only 4.12 mm in thickness, designed precisely to fit the elegant rectangular case.

This movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and features a balance wheel with four adjustable weights to ensure precision regulation and timing reliability. To enhance winding efficiency, the CRMA9 caliber uses a rotor made of platinum coupled with titanium weights, functioning through a one-way reverse system mounted on ceramic ball bearings. The fast-rotating barrel completes a full cycle every five hours (as opposed to the usual 7.5 hours), reducing stress on the mainspring and enhancing performance, providing a power reserve of 50 hours.
Each version of the two watches comes with a rubber strap that matches the color of the case, and prices are available upon request.
