Simplicity at Its Finest, Combining Platinum Elegance with Swiss Craftsmanship
Parmigiani Fleurier continues its journey in creating elegant watches with exceptional craftsmanship, unveiling its latest release, the Tonda PF Micro-Rotor Platinum Stone Blue, an exclusive edition limited to only 25 pieces. The watch is made entirely of platinum, from the case to the bracelet to the dial, reflecting its unique distinction. As the company stated: "This noble and precious metal represents the essence of understated refinement, paying tribute to the pursuit of masterful excellence without ostentation."
The Tonda PF Micro-Rotor collection was first launched in September 2021 and achieved great success with its simple yet refined design. Last year, the collection introduced a new series, the "No-Date" edition, which embraced a more modern approach to simplicity, displaying only the hours and minutes, focusing on simplicity and functionality. This version was presented in a steel case with the brand's signature "Grain d'Orge" guilloché dial. You can read our full review of this watch in this article. Now, the brand introduces a new addition to the collection with a more luxurious touch.
The minimalist design and color choice are inspired by the works of the Franco-Swiss architect Le Corbusier, focusing on functionality and efficiency, adhering to design principles that highlight essential elements and avoid excess.
Parmigiani Fleurier has a tradition of crafting its signature knurled bezel in platinum, even when the case itself is made of other metals, as seen in the previous No-Date edition made of steel. However, as a luxurious edition, this timepiece is crafted entirely from polished and satin-finished platinum 950, maintaining the same dimensions as the collection, with a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of just 7.8 mm. This ensures a balanced and sleek profile.
The case is equipped with ARunic anti-reflective sapphire glass on both the front and the case back, showcasing the serial number and exclusive engraving: “SWISS MADE,” “PARMIGIANI FLEURIER,” and “1 of 25.” The crown is securely screwed-in for added protection, allowing the case to offer 100 meters of water resistance.
The Stone Blue dial, chosen for its soothing shades and velvety reflections, harmonizes beautifully with the platinum case. According to the company, the dial base is also made of platinum and undergoes a sandblasted finish before receiving its color, a treatment that differs from the 'Grain d'Orge' barley-grain guilloché finish seen in the previous No-Date edition. This dial design enhances the overall classic look of the watch, featuring only two hands and the applied brand logo at 12 o’clock, creating an uncluttered space that allows the dial color to take center stage.
The hour and minute hands are skeletonized in a delta shape, made of 18-carat gold and coated with rhodium, adding a touch of elegance to the watch. With the absence of a date window, the only additional feature on the dial besides the applied indices is the brand’s logo, positioned at 12 o’clock.
The Tonda PF Micro-Rotor Stone Blue edition is powered by the automatic movement PF703. Impressively slender at just 3.07 mm, this movement boasts a platinum 950 micro-rotor. Operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, the Calibre PF703 offers a substantial 48-hour power reserve.
The micro-rotor is embellished with a barley-grain pattern and the brand's logo at its center. Additionally, the bridges feature a Côtes de Genève finish, while the mainplate is generously adorned with perlage.
The watch comes with an integrated platinum bracelet, polished and satin-finished, secured with a white gold folding clasp. It is priced at USD 91,400, which is approximately 335,600 AED.
