Introducing Orion Neomatik New Black Collection by Nomos Glashütte

A trio that unveils the elegance of black with gold accents

Nomos Glashütte is a German watchmaking company known for producing elegant mechanical timepieces. The brand was founded in 1990, shortly after the reunification of Germany, and it is located in the town of Glashütte in the Saxony region. Glashütte city has a long-standing tradition of watchmaking, and Nomos has contributed to the town's horological legacy.

In 2023, the brand celebrated over 175 years of watchmaking excellence in Glashütte and introduced a trio of the Orion Neomatic timepieces in sizes 36mm, 39mm, and 41mm with silver-plated dials. Each variant is produced in a limited edition of 175 pieces, marking a special celebration of Glashütte's rich horological legacy. Now, Nomos unveils the Orion Neomatik New Black Collection, a trio with similar specifications to the previous release but with dark, elegant black dials featuring gold accents.

The new collection revolves around a unified design offered in three varying sizes, catering to both genders. However, despite the nearly identical shape, and movements, subtle details on the dial unveil their distinctive aesthetics. The first variant comes in a 36.4mm polished case with a mere 8.5mm in thickness, and sapphire crystals on both the front and back. The black dial features a small second subdial at 6 o’clock and is adorned with gold-colored indices, complementing the rhodium-plated hands. Powered by the brand's in-house movement, the caliber DUW 3001 operates at 21,600 vph (3Hz) and offers 43 hours of power reserve.

The Orion Neomatik 39 New Black is the second model in this collection, boasting a 38.5 mm case with an 8.7 mm thickness. The black dial is adorned with silver accents, except for the gold colored neomatik logo at 12 o’clock. This version also relies on the caliber DUW 3001.

Concluding the collection, the Orion Neomatik 41 Date New Black, presents itself in an oversized case compared to the other two releases, measuring 40.5 mm with a height of 9.4 mm. Beyond its dimensions, this variant showcases a large date window at 3 o’clock, accompanied by gold accents on the hands and date numerals, while the indices are rhodium plated. This timepiece is powered by the caliber DUW 6101, representing the date-equipped version of the neomatik in-house movement.

The trio comes with a Horween Shell Cordovan black leather strap, an equine leather made from the fibrous, flat connective tissue found in the rump area of the horse. The 36 mm model is priced at USD 3,580 which is equivalent to AED 13,200, while the 39 mm is priced at USD 3,920 which is equivalent to AED 14,400, and the 41 mm variant is priced at USD 4,200 which is equivalent to AED 15,500.
