Norqain is a Swiss luxury watch brand founded in 2018 by Ben Küffer, with a vision to blend traditional Swiss craftsmanship with modern innovation. The brand quickly gained recognition for its unique designs and the use of advanced materials such as stainless steel, titanium, carbon, and gold. Norqain is known for collections like the Independence collection, which combines sporty performance with elegance, and the Wild ONE series, featuring lightweight, durable materials and an innovative open-worked dial. The Wild ONE series, part of the Independence collection, includes editions like the “Wild ONE Skeleton Coral and Geico”, which were showcased at the Watches & Wonders 2024 event.
Recently, Norqain unveiled two new models that continue to push the boundaries of material innovation, the Wild ONE Skeleton 42mm Gold and the Wild ONE Skeleton 42mm Grey, in collaboration with Swiss hockey icon Roman Josi. These new releases combine cutting-edge design with advanced materials, further solidifying Norqain's commitment to luxury, innovation, and sustainability.
Both versions have a 42mm diameter, a 12.30mm thickness, and a 49.40mm lug-to-lug distance, ensuring a comfortable and robust fit on the wrist. They are equipped with double anti-reflective, scratch-proof sapphire glass for exceptional clarity and durability, and an open case back with a scratch-proof sapphire glass showcasing the intricate movement. Both watches also feature a screw-down crown overmolded with black rubber and the Norqain logo, and they offer a solid 200m water resistance for those who seek performance in any environment.
However, the two models differ significantly in their materials and aesthetic details. The Wild ONE Skeleton Grey features a grey carbon fibre cage (top and bottom parts), paired with a black rubber shock absorber and a sandblasted titanium container and case back. The unique carbon fibre material is ultra-light and ultra-durable, six times lighter than steel and 3.5 times lighter than titanium. In contrast, the Wild ONE Skeleton Gold is the first in the series to incorporate 18ct 5N red gold in the top part of the case, offering a luxurious brushed and polished finish, while the bottom part retains the same high-performance carbon fibre. It also comes with a brown rubber shock absorber and a sandblasted titanium container, enhancing its striking visual appeal and durability. Both cases are developed in collaboration with watchmaking legend Jean-Claude Biver, and showcase the Norqain commitment to innovation, Swiss craftsmanship.
The Wild ONE Skeleton Grey and Wild ONE Skeleton Gold both feature openworked dials that beautifully showcase the movement components beneath. Both models are equipped with flat diamond-cut indexes and hands, all filled with X1 Super-LumiNova for excellent legibility in low-light conditions. The primary differences between the two models lie in their color schemes. The Wild ONE Skeleton Gold boasts a brown bridges with red gold-plated accents on the hands and indexes, creating a warm, luxurious look. The Wild ONE Skeleton Grey, on the other hand, features a black bridges with black-plated hands and indexes for a sleek, modern aesthetic. Both dials are framed with a black numbered every five minutes ring.
Both of the versions are powered by the Norqain Calibre NB08S, a mechanical automatic skeleton movement that offers a fascinating glimpse into the intricate workings of the watch. Chronometer certified by COSC, this movement ensures exceptional precision. A personalised Norqain oscillating weight adds a unique touch to each piece, and the movement boasts a 41 hour power reserve. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz).
Both versions feature an integrated rubber strap with a Milanese structure. The Grey version is secured with a grey pin buckle at price CHF 5,250 approximately equivalent to AED 23,100, while the Gold version comes with either a black pin buckle at price CHF 12,300 approximately equivalent to AED 54,100 or a red gold 18k pin buckle, At price CHF 13,940 approximately equivalent to AED 61,300.
