Introducing New TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph 34 mm Collection

TAG Heuer unveils five distinct variants for LVMH Watch Week

Established in 1860 by Edouard Heuer amidst the scenic Jura Mountains in Switzerland, TAG Heuer stands as a distinguished luxury watch brand under LVMH, the global luxury French group. Nestled in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, TAG Heuer exemplifies precision and craftsmanship in the world of high-end timepieces. On January 29, 2024, the LVMH Watch Week event opens its doors, backed by the formidable LVMH Group, and preceding the much-anticipated Watches and Wonders Geneva. This distinctive gathering underscores the vitality of the LVMH Maisons and the broader watchmaking industry. Bulgari, Hublot, TAG Heuer, and Zenith are set to unveil their latest timepieces to a global assembly of journalists in Miami.

Having previously marked its trail with the “Aquaracer Solargraph” two years ago, TAG Heuer now introduces an entirely new collection—the “TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph” watches in a brand new size of 34 mm. These exceptional timepieces are crafted for enduring performance and comfortable wear.

The “Aquaracer” traces its origins to 1978, when Jack Heuer unveiled the Heuer Reference 844—a timepiece crafted for the intrepid souls seeking adventure. This versatile watch, tailored for both men and women who relish sports and thrive on challenges, be it on land or in the water, marked the inception of a novel category: high-performance timepieces designed to excel in any condition, even the most extreme. In 2004, this exceptional timepiece was formally named the TAG Heuer Aquaracer, solidifying its reputation as a symbol of precision and elegance. TAG Heuer released the “Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph” in 2022 with a 40mm timepiece featuring a carbon bezel, powered by a solar movement, and marking a pioneering milestone for the brand. Building on this success, 2023 witnessed the introduction of a titanium version, further enriching the collection.

Fast forward to 2024, TAG Heuer is poised to elegance with the unveiling of the 34mm size, a fresh addition to the Aquaracer collection. This smaller and more versatile timepiece signifies a deliberate stride towards offering a diverse range of options to enthusiasts. In alignment with its predecessors, the new models retain the distinctive key features that define the Aquaracer collection's essence.

The collection boasts a 34mm diameter steel case with a thickness of 9.5mm, finely brushed and polished to enhance its aesthetic appeal, with a 60-minute scale unidirectional rotating bezel adding both functionality and style. One of the releases is adorned with 34 diamonds set on the bezel. The timepieces feature a flat sapphire crystal with a double anti-reflective treatment, ensuring clear visibility of the dial. The steel screw-down crown and the screwed caseback enhance water resistance to 200 meters, emphasizing the watches' reliability and suitability for aquatic adventures.

The new line introduces a captivating array of five distinct releases, each lending a unique character to the timepieces. The first watch features TAG Heuer's iconic Aquaracer Polar Blue sunray dial and the second showcasing the brand's signature blue dial including the collection's distinctive polar blue accents. For the other three releases, TAG Heuer introduces mother-of-pearl dials—a first for the Solargraph series. Addressing the challenge posed by Solargraph technology's demand for semi-transparency to harness solar energy, TAG Heuer adapts mother-of-pearl dials, ensuring both visibility and the passage of light. The result is a dial that retains its elegance and exudes enchanting beauty, a testament to TAG Heuer's avant-garde approach.

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph series is powered by a solar quartz movement, caliber TH50-01, TAG Heuer collaborated with Manufacture La Joux-Perret in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland for TAG Heuer. With this movement, there's no need to change the watch's battery, as it is recharged by sunlight or artificial light. As mentioned in the press release,“A mere two-minute exposure to direct sunlight is sufficient to power the watch for an entire day. Once fully charged, after less than 40 hours in the sun, the watch can run for up to 10 months without any light exposure. In case the timepiece stops ticking, a brief exposure of just ten seconds to any light source is ample to restart it, thanks to its ultra-efficient recharge time”.

All watches that have been mentioned in this article come with a three row polished steel bracelet, with a folding clasp designed featuring a double safety push-buttons and a comfort link extension, adorned with the distinctive TAG Heuer shield. As for the prices, All variants that don't include diamonds range between CHF 2,100 and 2,300, which is equivalent to AED 9,000 and 10,000. While the mother of pearl variant that includes diamond indices is priced at CHF 2,900 which is equivalent to AED 12,400, and the variant that includes diamonds on both the bezel and indices is priced at CHF 4,900 which is equivalent to AED 21,000.
