Introducing Longines Expands the Legend Diver Collection with Three New Colors

An iconic vintage style diving watch with beautiful modern colors

In 1959, Longines introduced the Super Compressor Diver ref. 7042, an iconic timepiece featuring a bezel housed within the case to protect it from accidental adjustments and impacts, ensuring the diver’s settings remained secure. The term "super compressor" originates from the case’s innovative ability to become increasingly watertight as water pressure rises. This engineering marvel allowed the watch’s seals to tighten as the pressure intensified, enhancing its underwater reliability. In 2007, the brand launched the Legend Diver collection, modeled after the ref. 7042, and in the years since, Longines has introduced both 42mm and 36mm date variants.

Fast forward to last year, Longines expanded the no-date collection with two new releases featuring 39mm cases and black or blue dials. Building on this momentum, this year sees the collection grow further with the introduction of three striking new dial colors: terracotta, green, and anthracite gray.

The stainless steel case has a thickness of 12.7mm and features a mix of brushed and polished finishes, giving it a refined yet robust appearance. With a 47mm lug-to-lug distance, it sits comfortably on the wrist. Both the screw-down crown and the secondary bezel crown are positioned on the right side of the case for easy access. Topping the dial is a domed box-shaped sapphire crystal, while the closed caseback showcases Longines diver symbol, ensuring the watch remains water-resistant to 300 meters.

The new trio features stunning lacquered dials in terracotta, green, and anthracite gray. Encircling the dial is a 60-minute scale on the inner bezel, while the rhodium-plated hands and indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring enhanced visibility even in low-light conditions encountered underwater.

The watch is powered by the Caliber L888.6, an automatic movement based on the ETA A31.L11. It operates at 25,200 vph (3.5 Hz), offers a 72-hour power reserve, and features a silicon balance spring. Unlike the calibers in other Legend Diver models, this movement is COSC-certified, ensuring accuracy within -4/+6 seconds per day and meeting the ISO 764 standard for magnetic resistance. The watch is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet featuring beads-of-rice center links and a folding clasp with micro-adjustment. Each variant is priced at USD 3,400, equivalent to AED 12,500.
