New aesthetics for the iconic Maestro collection
Gerald Charles is a distinguished luxury watch brand founded by the legendary watchmaker Gérald Charles Genta, who is nicknamed “Maestro”, which its iconic collection is named after. The Maestro collection draws inspiration from the beauty of 17th-century Baroque architecture, particularly the masterpieces crafted by the Italian architect Francesco Borromini. The collection captures the essence of Borromini's architectural marvels.
A defining feature of the Maestro collection is the "smile" positioned at 6 o'clock. This distinctive detail mirrors the concavity found on the façades of Borromini's monuments. In our interview with the brand CEO Federico Ziviani, we delved deeper into the future of Maestro design. Ziviani's insights shed light on the brand's vision for the Maestro collection, promising an exciting evolution that seamlessly blends tradition with modernity. During Watches & Wonders 2024, the brand is introducing the Masterlink, the newest iteration of the iconic Maestro case, with the Maison's inaugural asymmetrical integrated bracelet.
The Masterlink comes in a 316L stainless steel case, featuring a combination of polished and brushed finishes that enhance its overall aesthetic appeal. It measures 38mm in diameter and 7.99mm in thickness, equipped with a right-hand screw-down crown adorned with a Clous de Paris finish. Protecting the dial is a flat sapphire crystal with multi-layer internal and external anti-reflection treatment. Meanwhile, the sapphire crystal case back provides a glimpse into the intricate inner workings of the movement.
The dial is available in blue or silver with a Côtes de Genève pattern, showcasing a white minute track on the blue dial, while the silver dial features a black minute track. The skeletonized baton-shaped hands, adorned with white Super-LumiNova inserts, ensure optimal legibility in any lighting conditions.

Powering the timepieces is the GCA 5401 movement, an automatic Manufacture movement that offers 50 hours of power reserve. This ultra-thin movement features an offset micro-rotor, with 176 components, and a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz). The bridges are delicately decorated with snailing, Côtes de Genève, and circular graining, showcasing the brand's dedication to exquisite finishing.

As previously mentioned, the Masterlink represents Gérald Charles' inaugural watch featuring an integrated bracelet. At 6 o'clock, the central links initially mirror the curvature of the case's 'smile', gradually transitioning to a straightened orientation, while at 12 o'clock, they seamlessly extend the case and bezel's straight topline. The bracelet is crafted from 316L stainless steel and available in three sizes, 157 mm (small), 205 mm (medium), and 222 mm (large), ensuring a perfect fit for every wrist. For further adjustment, a micro-link is available, allowing for effortless customization, and the watch is secured by a folding clasp. Both watches share a price of CHF 20,100 which is equivalent to AED 82,000.
