The most exclusive timepiece, entirely handcrafted for the first time in the company
This year, Frederique Constant celebrates its 35th anniversary and the 15th anniversary of its iconic Tourbillon caliber. To mark this special occasion, the Maison has introduced a “Classic Tourbillon Meteorite Manufacture” in platinum, featuring a meteorite dial and limited to only 35 pieces. This is an absolute first, as every single timepiece is hand-crafted.
With a diverse collection, Frederique Constant has plenty of models to offer. The “Manufacture”, and “Highlife” collections hold some of the brand's best pieces. This marks the second limited edition release from the company in one week after we covered the Frederique Constant “Highlife Automatic Edition Caron”.
The brand's most exclusive timepiece till now, retains the style of the “Manufacture” collection. It comes in a platinum case, whereas previous variants were crafted from gold or steel. The three-part case measures 39mm x 10.99mm and is entirely polished. The round case features straight lugs and is fitted with a scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal on the front.
The dial is crafted from a 0.5mm thick slice of meteorite that landed in Gibeon, Namibia, and protected by a coat of ruthenium, this enhances its natural grey glints and shielding the surface from oxidation, with applique hour indices and hand-polished golden hands, gliding over the anthracite grey sun-brushed dial. In addition, the hour indices and hands now feature diamond cut edges, with a 60-second tourbillon opening at 6 o’clock.
Under the transparent sapphire case back lies the in-house automatic FC-980 caliber. Every single component has been finished by hand. The movement operates at 28,800 VPH with a power reserve of 38 hours, with a silicon escapement wheel and an oscillating weight made of brass with a tungsten section around the rim and 33 jewels. Using traditional instruments and tools, working by hand, they spent weeks on the finishing of each of the components, a buff file for bevelling, a hammer and punch for hand-punching, and 9-micron sandpaper for charbonnage of the bridge and the base of the tourbillon cage.
Each watch is presented with a matte black alligator strap porting a Folding buckle. The Frederique Constant Classic Tourbillon Meteorite Manufacture is a limited edition of 35 pieces only. The watch is available at a price of EUR 42,995 equivalent to AED 166,500.
