A Perpetual Calendar Watch combines British style with Swiss precision
Frederique Constant introduces a fresh addition to their expanding Manufacture collection with the unveiling of a new perpetual calendar timepiece. This renowned collection already showcases a diverse range of exquisitely crafted technical watches, including world timers, chronographs, tourbillons, and moon phases. Renowned for their commitment to producing affordable timepieces, Frederique Constant takes pride in their success with 30 in-house calibers developed since their inaugural Manufacture timepiece in 2004. The latest addition, the Slimline Perpetual Calendar Manufacture, is a collaboration with the British watchmaker Peter Speake-Marine, who designed this elegant piece. Peter, the founder of a brand bearing his name, left it in 2017 to establish a digital watchmaking education program. Frederique Constant's enduring partnership with Peter Speake has now resulted in the creation of the Slimline Perpetual Calendar Manufacture, a masterpiece that seamlessly blends style and technical precision, showcasing Speake's distinctive design.
The watch case is crafted from stainless steel, and its color features a stylish gray anthracite DLC coating, adding a touch of sophistication. With a diameter of 42mm and a thickness of 12.05mm, the case strikes a balanced and contemporary size, ensuring both a robust presence on the wrist and comfortable wear. This attention to material is evident in the sapphire crystal caseback. Inset buttons on both sides of the case are used to easily adjust the calendar mechanism. One button near 5 o’clock advances the moon phase, while another near 8 o’clock is used for the day of the week, and the button at 10 o’clock advances the day and date simultaneously. When adjusting the perpetual calendar, set the date first and then the day. To finish, the button near 11 o’clock displays the month and the leap year simultaneously.
The openworked dial puts the movement on full display. Even the hands have been skeletonized. The second hand has been removed completely so that the main focus is on the essential information the perpetual calendar is meant to display. The Slimline Perpetual Calendar cohesively displays The date is indicated at 3 o’clock, the day of the week at 9 o’clock, the month at 12 o’clock as well as the leap year is symbolized as a red dot the years where February has an extra day. while the moon phases at 6 o'clock.
Powered by the in-house FC-775 caliber, an automatic movement featuring a power reserve of 38 hours, this timepiece boasts a vibrational frequency of 28,800 VpH. It not only delivers accurate timekeeping but also reflects the intricate craftsmanship invested in its creation. With 191 components, this new model is fitted with a sapphire case back, allowing enthusiasts to admire the FC-775 movement adorned with Perlage and Circular Côtes de Genève décoration. while the skeletonized blued rotor stands out.
