Celebrating the brand’s 25th anniversary with an innovative ceramic watch
Formex is celebrating its silver jubilee this year, and to mark this huge milestone, it has unveiled the Essence Ceramica Skeleton COSC. This latest release marks a significant step in Formex's quest to push the boundaries of watch design, and materials, offering a timepiece that blends cutting-edge technology with refined craftsmanship.
Formex is no stranger to innovation, and the Essence Ceramica Skeleton COSC marks a major breakthrough in the use of high-performance ceramics. The watch features a full-ceramic case that’s not only seven times harder than steel but also 30% lighter, making it the perfect balance of durability and comfort. The use of zirconium oxide ceramic ensures extreme scratch resistance and fade resistance, keeping the watch looking fresh and vibrant for a long time. The integrated and patented Case Suspension System allows the case to move independently from the bracelet, and a titanium grade 2 container enhances the watch’s wearability by ensuring a more light and comfortable fit.
The ceramic case is exceptionally light, weighing just 56 grams without the bracelet, and 137 grams with the ceramic bracelet, offering comfort without compromising on robustness. The case measures 41mm in diameter and has a thickness of 11.2mm. The dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, featuring five layers of anti-reflective coating on the inside to ensure optimal legibility from any angle.
The case back is also crafted from zirconium oxide ceramic, with a sapphire crystal display that allows the wearer to admire the movement within. The screw-down crown ensures water resistance up to 100 meters, a notable feature for a ceramic watch that is generally more fragile compared to metals.
The Essence Ceramica Skeleton COSC offers a range of variations, each with its own unique charm. The GT version stands out with its bold rose gold accents, white the Stradale delivers a clean, minimalist design, featuring black hands and indices contrasted sharply with crisp white Super-LumiNova for exceptional legibility. For a more expressive look, the Stradale Viola introduces deep purple Super-LumiNova accents. Meanwhile, the Stradale Blue offers a refined aesthetic with blue Super-LumiNova accents, providing a modern and contemporary appeal.
The watch is powered by the Swiss-made self-winding SW200-1 SC movement, which boasts a skeletonized rotor for a unique aesthetic. Operating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), it ensures a 41-hour power reserve. The watch is officially certified by the COSC, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and performance.
Formex has integrated a world-first micro-adjustable ceramic clasp into this release. This feature provides a high level of comfort by allowing the wearer to make fine adjustments without needing any tools. The clasp's construction ensures that the watch fits securely, adapting to various wrist sizes and movements, allowing for seamless adjustments of the bracelet by up to 5mm in 1.5mm increments.
