An Agate Dial with a Case Combining Steel and Titanium
Recently, the watch market has seen significant diversity, with many brands striving for distinction. Among them, “Formex” stands out as a leader that successfully balances traditional Swiss craftsmanship with modern technological innovation. The brand has earned a distinguished reputation for its ability to blend precision with cutting-edge design. Known for its sporty yet luxurious timepieces, Formex uses advanced materials such as steel, titanium, and carbon, ensuring durability and lightness. One of its standout innovations is the patented Case Suspension System, which enhances comfort and impact resistance. Thanks to these innovations, Formex has become the go-to choice for watch enthusiasts seeking both beauty and precision.
Since its inception, the brand has launched over forty collections, with one of the most notable being the Essence collection. This series includes standout models that have achieved significant success in the watch market, such as the “Space Gold 39mm” watch. Now, the brand unveils its latest creation with a new release from the same collection, the 39mm BLUE AGATE Automatic COSC Special Edition, featuring its distinctive and captivating dial.
The watch features a 39mm stainless steel 316L case with a titanium grade 2 container, offering durability and a sleek design. Its 10mm height and 45mm lug-to-lug span provide a comfortable, ergonomic fit, enhanced by curved lugs. The patented suspension system, integrated with four springs, delivers superior shock absorption for ultimate comfort.

The case is inspired by high-performance bikes and racing cars. Additionally, scratch-resistant sapphire crystals with anti-reflective treatments on both the front and back of the case ensure clarity and protection, while the vertical brushed finish and hand-polished bevels add an aesthetic touch. With water resistance to 100 meters, it’s both functional and stylish.
The dial is a stunning display of natural beauty, crafted from blue Agate stone that forms over thousands of years within volcanic rock. Each dial showcases unique horizontal banding, with shades that range from deep navy to vibrant sapphire blues, creating a mesmerizing, one-of-a-kind pattern. The translucent stone’s layered bands flow in a harmonious, wave-like progression, adding depth and elegance without overwhelming the eye.
Applied indices and the Formex logo are set against this intricate backdrop, filled with Super-LumiNova for legibility in low light, surrounded by a ring at the edges, with a minute track printed in white for easy reading of the time and date window at 6 o'clock. The hands, also finished with vertically brushed surfaces and mirror-polished bevels, complement the dial's natural beauty while ensuring readability. This distinctive dial gives each watch its own character, making it a versatile, timeless piece suitable for any wrist.
The watch is powered by a Swiss-made, COSC-certified, Sellita caliber SW200-1 automatic movement, offering chronometer-grade precision and reliability. With a 41-hour power reserve, this movement features a Glucydur balance wheel for exceptional stability, resistance to deformation, and non-magnetic properties. Fully decorated with thermally blued screws and wound by Formex’s custom skeletonized rotor, the movement is a testament to both technical excellence and aesthetic craftsmanship. Each piece undergoes rigorous testing by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), ensuring outstanding accuracy and performance. This combination of reliability and refinement makes the movement as remarkable as the watch itself.
It comes with a stainless steel bracelet and stainless steel buckle, or Italian leather strap or black rubber strap with carbon fiber composite clasp. The watch is limited to 100 pieces per year, and its price is USD 1,860 equivalent to AED 6,800 for the bracelet, or USD 1,750 equivalent to AED 6,400 for the strap.
Waqt is the official exclusive retailer for Formex in the UAE, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to experience these exceptional timepieces firsthand. You can explore and order Formex watches from our E-shop.
