Introducing Fears Bristol Unveils The Brunswick 38 '1924 Edition' For The British Watchmakers Day

Fears Bristol is a British watch company with a rich heritage dating back to 1846. It is currently managed by the sixth generation of the founding family. Based in Bristol, England, Fears Watches distinguishes itself by handcrafting elegant timepieces. 

During the British watchmakers day 2024, Fears Watches unveiled the Brunswick 38 '1924 Edition' drawing its inspiration from a cushion-shaped watch of 1924, which served as the muse for the modern Brunswick watch collection introduced in 2017. Marking its 100th anniversary, it seemed fitting to celebrate this event with the first Fears watch featuring a sterling silver case since the 1920s.

The timepiece comes with the brand's refined 38mm cushion-shaped case, with 12.12mm in thickness, and crafted from solid Sterling Silver. This material, comprising genuine silver alloyed with other metals for strength. The entire case, fashioned from this subtle yet durable metal is polished to accentuate the metal's beauty, with an onion shaped crown, set with a diamond. The solid caseback bear hallmarks from the London Assay Office, and, following a Fears tradition, these comprise the initials of the Managing Director when the watch was built, in this case, ‘NBS’ for the brand’s (4th) Managing Director, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill.

The timepiece showcases a German crafted hand-polished white lacquer dial. Following the white lacquer, multiple coats of black ink are applied using a numeral set inspired by the original from 1924. Positioned at 6 o'clock is the small seconds subdial, typically adorned with 'England' as an acknowledgment of Fears' English craftsmanship. However, in a departure from tradition, the top of the dial features the same logo from the 1920s, marking the first instance of 'Bristol' appearing on a modern-era Fears watch. The dial also boasts the signature 'Fears'-shaped hands, manufactured in Germany, with a skeletonized design and finished in a striking blue PVD coating.

Powering the watch is the La Joux-Perret D100 movement. This manual winding movement operates at 21,600 vph (3Hz) and offers a 50-hour power reserve. It is finished with Côtes de Genève and features blued screws. The timepiece comes with a handmade Blue strap crafted from Barenia leather with tonal stitching and fold-over edges, fastened by a sterling silver pin buckle. The watch is limited to 10 pieces and only available to purchase from the event with a price of £3,950 which is equivalent to AED 18,500.
