The first special edition of its kind for the Arcival with the company's UAE agent
Fears Watch Company, based in Bristol, England, was founded by Edwin Fear in 1846. It was among the first companies to introduce wristwatches in the early 20th century when they were still considered a novelty. In 2016, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, a descendant of the original founder, revived the Fears brand after it had been dormant for several decades. He reintroduced Fears with a focus on luxury, craftsmanship, and heritage, drawing inspiration from the brand's illustrious past.
Vintage-style watches are at the core of the company's offerings, as evidenced by the recent release of the Brunswick special edition on the occasion of British Watchmakers Day. Now, they are bringing back another vintage-style watch, The Archival 1930, in collaboration with Perpétuel Gallery, offering a very special limited edition. Perpétuel, the Emirati company, has already made its mark in the world of amazing timepieces, one of which was the Derek Pratt Remontoir d’égalité X Perpétuel Galerie, selected as one of the Most Notable Watches Presented by Independent Watchmakers for the Year 2023.
This collaboration with Perpétuel marks the first retailer edition using the Archival collection from Fears, a significant timepiece that was first launched in 2021 to commemorate 175 years since the founding of the company.
The Archival 1930 isn't a large watch, featuring a rectangle case made of high-quality 1316L stainless steel and rhodium-plated. It measures 22mm across and 40mm from lug to lug, giving it a delicate and slim appearance when viewed from the front. At only 8.5mm thick, with a curved case back, it should provide comfortable wear on most wrists, particularly with the Perpétuel logo and the limited edition number engraved on it. The tip of the winding crown is deeply engraved with the Fears pipette logo.
The vertically brushed dial shines with an elegant British Racing Green hue, complemented by Eastern Arabic numbers hand-applied to add sophistication and cultural flair, creating the perfect timepiece. It embodies the DNA of both Fears and Perpétuel.
The Archival 1930 is powered by an original movement that Fears used in the past. The ETA 2360 movements date back to the 1960s and having never been used previously have undergone a full rebuild and reconditioning in the workshop while receiving an upgraded mainspring to improve reliability.
The watch comes with a calf leather strap in British racing green color, a delightful homage to Perpétuel, the Middle Eastern partner of the company. as we said it is limited edition to 25 pieces only and priced at AED 21,400
