Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
A Fusion of Elegance and Performance
In the midst of the horological spectacle that is Geneva Watch Days, a momentous release from Doxa stands out. Held at their suite in the elegant Beau-Rivage Hotel in Genève, the legendary watch brand unveiled the latest addition to its esteemed lineage - the SUB 300β Sharkhunter.
As I stepped into the suite, I was greeted by none other than the CEO, Jan Edocs. In conversation with him, it's evident how proud Doxa is of their illustrious heritage and how they're evolving, combining historical elements with modern designs.
Taking inspiration from its 1967 ancestor, which was the first mainstream professional diving watch, the SUB 300β Sharkhunter is a testament to Doxa's commitment to innovation. The original SUB concept was groundbreaking in its day, with its dual scaled unidirectionally rotating bezel - a feature that became a patented Doxa hallmark. Notably, this watch also garnered the attention of the legendary Jacques-Yves Cousteau, who took the SUB concept to the depths of the ocean and into the living rooms of millions.
Trying on the watch, its reliability is palpable. The watch sits beautifully on the wrist, a seamless blend of modern aesthetics and traditional Doxa reliability. The golden bezel and crown exude a sense of durability and luxury. The date display set against a black dial, the date is somewhat challenging to discern due to its matching black hue.
The SUB 300β Sharkhunter continues the brand's legacy while presenting itself in a captivating Black & Gold combination - a nod to both the past and the future. A first for Doxa, the color palette captures the zeitgeist of modern watch tastes, marrying urban sophistication with the ruggedness of a tool watch.
In the press release, Doxa describes this as the ‘β’ factor. The watch doesn’t just merge colors and materials; it brings together contrasting elements - dark and bright, matte and glossy. The black ceramic case contrasts brilliantly with the 18K 3N gold bezel and crown, showcasing Doxa’s mastery in design and execution. Furthermore, the watch's slimness, with a height of just 11.95mm, indicates the brand’s keen attention to current trends without compromising its technical prowess.
What's more, the SUB 300β Sharkhunter remains loyal to its technical roots. Equipped with a titanium container for optimal pressure resistance, an 18K 3N gold unidirectional rotating bezel, and a screw-down crown, it boasts a water-resistance of 300 meters. Its COSC-certified Swiss automatic movement assures precision, promising a power reserve of approximately 38 hours.
Come October 2023, enthusiasts and divers alike will be able to get their hands on this amalgamation of history and modernity, available at all DOXA retailers and their official website.
In sum, with the SUB 300β Sharkhunter, Doxa once again proves that it's not just about telling time, but about making a statement. Whether you're diving deep into the ocean or attending a gala, this watch ensures you do so with style and substance.
