Backed by New Ownership, the Prestigious Brand Embarks on an Exciting New Chapter
The iconic watch brand Universal Genève has launched a new website and dedicated social media channels, signaling its future direction under new ownership, as previously reported when Breitling acquired Universal Genève.
In a remarkable collaboration with the Universal Genève collectors' community, the storied “Couturier de la Montre” has introduced a dedicated platform where enthusiasts can explore the brand’s evolving identity and stay updated on news and upcoming releases. This marks the beginning of a fresh chapter in Universal Genève’s legacy of design and innovation, following its acquisition by private investment firms Partners Group and CVC Capital Partners in 2023. CEO Georges Kern remarked, “There is a lot to look forward to, and this is just the start of a significant journey.”
Founded in 1894 by Numa-Émile Descombes and Ulysse-Georges Perret, Universal Genève has been celebrated for its distinguished timepieces, including the Polerouter, the Compax—featuring the legendary “Nina Rindt”—as well as the Tri-Compax series and the Cabriolet.
Appointed as Managing Director, Gregory Bruttin brings extensive experience to Universal Genève, having begun his career with Roger Dubuis. In an exclusive interview, he shared insights on Universal Genève's revival, stating, "The new Universal Genève website and social media pages offer an exciting glimpse of what’s to come for the brand.”
The website will also host UG Magazine, which will dive into the brand’s history and provide readers with behind-the-scenes content on Universal Genève’s revival journey. Fans can sign up online to receive the latest updates.
Leading up to the relaunch, a series of pre-launch events and special timepiece releases are planned to honor the rich heritage and innovative spirit that define Universal Genève. This November, the brand will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the legendary Polerouter watch, initially commissioned by Scandinavian airline SAS in 1954. Universal Genève’s first new releases are anticipated for the autumn of 2026.
