A new addition to the DB28XP Collection, A Fusion of Ultra-Thin Design and Elegant Blue Titanium
De Bethune is introducing the latest DB28XP Kind of Blue Tourbillon, a limited edition of 20 pieces born from the fusion of the established elegance seen in the DB28XP Kind of Blue, previously launched during Geneva Watch Days. This new watch retains the same look as the DB28XP Kind of Blue Tourbillon Sapphire edition, which was unveiled in Hong Kong last December. What sets this apart from the DB28XP Kind of Blue Tourbillon Sapphire that was released last December is the bezel.
In his pursuit of an ultra-thin timepiece, the founder and master watchmaker of De Bethune Denis Flageollet conceived the DB28XP as a convergence of technical and aesthetic hurdles. It embodies a fine equilibrium between complexity and minimalism, demanding meticulous craftsmanship and a seamless integration of design and constraints.
Remaining true to the essence found in all models within its collection, the DB28XP Kind of Blue Tourbillon consistently astonishes with the lightweight design of its case. Constructed entirely from polished blued grade 5 titanium, featuring a micro-light case adorned with sapphire rods and affixed to floating lugs that adjust to the size and various movements of the wrist, thanks to a patented De Bethune system. The case boasts a more contoured profile, tracing the natural lines of the wrist. The distinctive blue hue is achieved through the natural oxidation of the material, turning each timepiece into a one-of-a-kind work of art. The trademark crown at 12 o'clock adds a signature touch. The enchantment of this watch extends to the back with a screwed case back in blued polished titanium, revealing an open linear power reserve indicator allowing connoisseurs to marvel at the complexity and beauty of each component.
The dial, entirely crafted in Microlight. Across its expansive flat surface, while the De Bethune balance wheel, visible under the tourbillon at 6 o'clock, features an extraordinarily lightweight cage weighing 0.18 grams, the lightest ever created by the company. Rotating every thirty seconds, and a 30 seconds indicator surrounded the cage.
The titanium hour ring boasts blued Microlight decoration and polished hour markers. Blued grade 5 circulars form a tin titanium minutes and seconds ring. The bridge cover on the barrel and the triangular central bridge in grade 5 blued polished titanium showcase a blued drawn chamfered contour. The hands also come in polished titanium.
Powering the watch is the manually winding DB2009v5 movement, operates at 36,000 VPH, equipped with a balance wheel incorporating the latest advancements, modest in diameter, crafted from titanium, and fitted with small white gold weights positioned externally. The movement is also Equipped with the renowned De Bethune hairspring, it has been meticulously designed to maintain its center of gravity precisely at the midpoint. This is achieved through a flat curve fixed externally to the hairspring. Variations in the thickness of the blade contribute to nearly perfect concentric development, offering numerous advantages, including reduced height, improved concentricity quality, finer adjustment of the pallet, eliminating the need for pins, and thecurve's shape acting as a shock absorber.Furthermore, the internal structure of the material remains intact.
The watch is limited to 20 pieces only, and comes with an alligator leather strap with Blued grade 5 titanium buckle and pin, while the price will be upon request.
