Four limited-edition models adorned with Hermès exceptional dial expertise
One of the distinctive features of Slim d'Hermes watches is the dial, which comes in a uniquely modern style that adds a touch of modernity to the classic design. Created by Philippe Delhotal in 2015, this design embodies the essence of Hermès: a unique combination of strict discipline and harmonious balance. Its clean, contemporary and timeless design evokes the style and fantasy world of Hermès. As the company has accustomed us to in its latest releases inspired by the silk scarves that the company has excelled in presenting, this time it presents four watches inspired by the silk scarf bearing the title “Le Sacre des Saisons” which is a phrase meaning “The Sanctity of the Seasons” and the one who designed this scarf is the artist “Pierre Marie".
Created by the company's best craftsmen, these watches demonstrate that they require skill and experience. Each represents a season, one of the four seasons of the year, and four animal shapes inspired by the Hermes silk scarf have been redesigned and drawn on the dial in a dazzling manner with some subtle changes, adding attractive details to the watches.
The chosen case for this performance is the elegant 39.5mm Slim d’Hermès dress watch, designed by Philippe Delhotal in 2015. Characterized by its clean lines and slender profile, all watch cases are crafted from white gold, except for the spring edition which comes in rose gold. Utilizing the brand’s extensive artisanal skills, each dial is adorned using a distinct technique.
A sun-haloed lion, an eagle with unfurled leafy wings, an ice-crowned wolf, and a horse with a mantle strewn with flowers – each animal symbolizes a season, embodying the narrative universe and baroque fantasy of the French designer. The beauty of nature and the passage of time are mirrored in the richness of the motifs, inspired by the costumes of 17th and 20th-century French and Russian ballets. Presented on a refined dial elegantly encased in gold, this playful bestiary showcases unique and precious craftsmanship.
In winter, an ice wolf depicted in paillonné enamel dances within a white gold case adorned with 52 baguette-cut diamonds. This meticulous technique involves embedding gold or silver flakes between enamel layers to create an interplay of light, transparency, and depth. called paillonné enamel. Paillonné involves inserting wafer-thin gold foil to highlight a particular area, which is then coated with translucent enamel.
Spring, represented by a horse adorned with lush flowers, is framed by a rose gold case set with 66 diamonds. Its intricate details are painstakingly painted layer by layer onto a lemon chrysoprase stone by a skilled artisan wielding a brush.
Summer, embodied by a radiant lion, is intricately engraved into sapphire crystal and painted from the back of the dial, lending it depth and brilliance. This effect is further enhanced by the white gold case set with 66 diamonds.
Autumn comes to life through the sculpting of gold using traditional burins and chisels. Within the slender white gold case, a flamboyant eagle unfolds its wings, its features and volumes meticulously hand-painted.
Each watch is equipped with the ultra-slim 2.6mm self-winding calibre H1950, eloquently showcasing Hermès' watchmaking expertise. These four remarkable timepieces, issued in a 12-piece edition, are paired with either a matte or smooth alligator leather strap, crafted according to the brand's in-house leather-making expertise. Prices are available upon request.
