Introducing The New MING 37.09 Bluefin

A dive watch carries Ming's signature elegance even further

Last year we had an interesting meeting with Ming Thein, the founder of the company, we discussed his upcoming releases. He expressed his desire to create a new diver watch, emphasizing that he wanted a fresh design and not a replica of the 2020 Ming 18.01 H41 dive watch. Now, we have the new dive watch from the Malaysian company.

The Ming 37.09 Bluefin impresses with its sleek 38mm diameter and a slim overall thickness of just 12.8mm. Crafted from stainless steel, its case ensures water resistance up to 600m, Which makes it suitable for diving, as we explained in our technical article about diving watches, making it suitable for diving. Notably, the watch features a substantial 2.8mm-thick domed sapphire crystal seamlessly integrated with the case, eliminating the need for a bezel—a design reminiscent of the Dubai edition 29.01. Additionally, a flatter yet slightly domed sapphire crystal is employed for the case back.

The 37.09 Bluefin is equipped with two crowns filled with super luminova, one at 2 o’clock for controlling the movement and the other for operating the internal rotating bezel and can be used under the water.

Since Ming introduced its lightest watch in the world with the unique concept of having no dial, Where it compensated for its absence with a sapphire crystal painted, the brand continues its innovative approach with this new diving watch. The 37.09 Bluefin features a metallized deep blue sapphire dial, etched and filled with Super-LumiNova X1.

Departing from the traditional design of internal-bezel divers, the internal bezel is integrated into the main dial. The indices are printed on the inner side of the crystal, while the dial itself rotates unidirectionally with 60 clicks using the crown at 4 o'clock.

Under the sapphire crystal case back, the customized automatic caliber SW300-1 from Sellita is exposed, featuring anthracite open-worked bridges and a rotor. It operates at a frequency of 4Hz, includes a stop-seconds mechanism, and offers a 50-hour power reserve.

The watch comes with a blue FKM rubber strap and uses the brand’s signature keeperless tuck buckle. The new Ming 37.09 Bluefin Dive Watch will begin delivery in October 2024, with 500 pieces planned for production this year. It is priced at CHF 4,950, equivalent to 20,000 AED, with a 50% deposit due at the time of order.
