The French indie unveils its first automatic movement in the Série-R collection
Depancel, we can resume this brand as a French independent watch brand making racing chronographs for motorsport enthusiasts. Founded in 2018 by the engineer Clement Meynier, yes is not that new name for us because he is one of the founders of Amida watches launched a month ago.
Chronographs are the ultimate time measuring instruments. A true symbol for motorsport enthusiasts. A Depancel watch is a sporty, readable, reliable, and fun instrument that will make you ready to race. Now they launched anew timepiece in their SERIE-R collection, the timepiece sports the familiar two-tone orange and blue finish. To be their first ever automatic chronograph release, with a racing style, French inspiration, an engineering culture, and affordable prices.
The rectangular case, whose design resembles a radiator grille, is made of 316L stainless steel, polished and brushed. Its size is 40 x 36 mm with a thickness of 13.3 mm. It is topped by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The crown at 3 o'clock is adorned with an orange accent, complementing the overall design of the watch.
A two parts blue diel, the outer part with vertical striped finishes, while the central polished part traversed by a bright orange band from 11 o’clock to 7 o’clock. Tangerine orange is used for all chronograph indications too, making them easier to read, the central seconds hand, the hour counter at 9 o’clock and more especially the minute counter at 3 o’clock. The latter is the most important display on a chronograph, and so Depancel has made it stand out that bit more with an orange flange.
The watch is powered by the Chinese movement Peacock, caliber SL-4801. It's only 6.5mm thick and 30.5mm in diameter. Its power reserve is also ample: 60 hours, equipped with a vertical column wheel.
It features a blue racing leather strap with orange stitching. It is available with either a deployment or pin buckle. It is limited to 300 pieces and priced at $995 USD, which is equivalent to 3,660 AED
