Celebrating 100 years since the brand’s first branded timepiece
Citizen is one of the most iconic Japanese watchmakers, and it has been synonymous with quality and innovation for over a century. In 1924, Citizen launched its very first watch—a pocket watch that bore the Citizen name, marking the beginning of its journey. This year, Citizen is celebrating a remarkable milestone: 100 years since the release of its first branded timepiece. To commemorate this centennial, the brand unveils the Caliber 0200 NC0210-11A 100th Anniversary limited edition.
The watch is crafted with a stainless steel case featuring a refined mix of brushed and polished finishes, it also includes an elegant 18-karat white gold bezel surrounding the sapphire crystal. The case measures 40.0 mm in diameter and 10.9 mm in thickness, with a transparent case back that reveals the movement.
The dial, with its textured silver surface, resembles a glistening iceberg, created through electroformed patterns and a pure silver tone. It features elegant Dauphine-style hands and a small seconds sub-dial positioned at 6 o'clock. This new watch is powered by Citizen’s in-house Caliber 0200 automatic movement, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) with an accuracy range of -3 to +5 seconds per day and a power reserve of approximately 60 hours when fully wound. It also includes a 22-karat gold rotor and an eagle mark—the symbol of Citizen—featured on both the rotor and the dial.
The strap is crafted from Himeji Kurozan leather, often referred to as black diamond leather. This luxurious material is produced through a technique that combines traditional tanning and lacquering methods, resulting in cow leather with a radiant finish reminiscent of countless glittering diamond fragments. The handcrafted process involves repeatedly applying lacquer to the grain side and allowing the leather to dry, enhancing its volume and creating a rich, deep luster.
The watch is limited to 160 pieces, and each one features a limited-edition number engraved on the case back. It is priced at USD 10,400, equivalent to AED 38,200.
