Two releases with the brand’s first integrated bracelet mark its 15th anniversary
The Belgian watchmaker Ressence has been making waves in the independent scene since its inception in 2010. With a focus on creating visually striking and technically complex timepieces, Ressence has built a reputation for its unique approach to timekeeping. Now, the brand marks its 15th anniversary with the release of the Type 7, a new model that introduces a GMT complication, an integrated titanium bracelet, and a fresh case design, all while maintaining the brand's signature oil-filled dial system.
The case is made from Grade 5 titanium, measuring 41mm in diameter with a 14mm thickness. It showcases a mix of brushed and polished finishes, contributing to its distinctive aesthetic. The case features a double-domed sapphire crystal, surrounded by a fixed bezel available in either ceramic for the Night Blue variant or aluminum for the XV Aquamarine variant, the latter being a special color released to commemorate the brand’s anniversary.
The Type 7 employs the Ressence Compression Lock System, which ensures that the caseback remains securely sealed, contributing to its 50m water resistance. This system allows for adjustments via the caseback, which has two distinct positions: one for winding the movement and another for setting the time and GMT.
The dial features the brand’s iconic oil-filled convex design, divided into several floating subdials. The hours are displayed on a subdial, while central minutes are indicated by large white pointers. A secondary GMT subdial allows the wearer to track a second time zone. Additionally, the dial includes a running indicator that rotates every 120 seconds, as well as a temperature indicator positioned beneath the hour subdial within a small window. The available color options are Night Blue and XV Aquamarine, both featuring bold white hands and indices for enhanced legibility.
The watch is powered by the ROCS 7 module, driven by a modified ETA base movement. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz), it provides a 36-hour power reserve. The automatic movement transfers energy via magnetic transmission between the two separate chambers of the case, eliminating the need for conventional hands and instead using a magnetic drive to rotate the dial.
The Type 7 is fitted with the brand’s first integrated metal bracelet, crafted from titanium. It features a micro-adjustable deployant clasp with five positions. Additionally, leather and rubber strap options are available.
