Introducing New Trio to the Divas’ Dream Peacock Collection From Bulgari

In 2017, Bvlgari introduced the 'Divas' Dream Peacock' collection, drawing inspiration from the peacock bird, and carving out its own niche within Bvlgari's iconic mythical realm of 'Animali Fantastici.' At Dubai Watch Week 2023, Bvlgari unveils three new timepieces, each showcasing the timeless beauty of the ancient art of marquetry: the Divas' Dream Peacock watch adorned with natural peacock feathers on its dial, the Divas' Dream Peacock watch featuring mother of pearl dial, and the Divas' Dream Peacock watch with jumping hours and retrograde minutes, with a 3D rose gold dial studded with diamonds and inlaid with aventurine glass and malachite stones.

Divas' Dream Peacock Feather Marquetry

The “Divas' Dream Peacock Feather Marquetry” comes in a 33 mm case crafted from 18K rose gold, surrounded by an 18K rose gold bezel that is adorned with an array of 48 round brilliant-cut diamonds, adding a touch of opulence to the watch's design. Further enhancing its allure, the fan-shaped lugs on the watch feature an additional 28 round brilliant-cut diamonds, adding to the overall brilliance of this piece. Completing the regal look, the 18K rose gold crown is gracefully adorned with a cabochon-cut sapphire.

The dial boasts a display of twelve feathers, each radiating a spectrum of hues. These feathers are collected after being naturally shed by the Peacock bird, chosen for their colors and textures. They are artfully inlaid using a technique with roots tracing back to the 1970s. This intricate process relies on basic tools such as a magnifying glass, tweezers, knife, and scissors. Each feather undergoes a transformation, passing through an antique brass steam machine to unveil its inherent luster. Subsequently, it is delicately cut, assembled, glued, and then precision-cut to form a mosaic that shimmers with a silky, iridescent allure. This time-only timepiece is powered by a Quartz movement, and comes with a Green alligator leather Strap, with a rose gold pin buckle set with diamonds.

Divas’ Dream Peacock Mother of Pearl Marquetry

The “Divas’ Dream Peacock Mother of Pearl Marquetry” shares the design of the previous watch that was mentioned, with a 33 mm case crafted from 18K rose gold, with a bezel that also features 48 round brilliant-cut diamonds, with fan-shaped lugs showcasing 28 round brilliant-cut diamonds, and an 18K rose gold crown with a cabochon-cut pink rubellite. However, the dial is the most captivating. Enhancing its allure, the watch features six brilliant-cut diamond hour-markers, while the peacock takes center stage in gold and mother of pearl. Its fan-shaped feathers gracefully sweep across the lower dial, while a tuft of feathers adorns its regal head, accentuated by a rose gold beak. This creature is set against a delicate backdrop of white mother-of-pearl, engraved with a sunray like pattern.

The mother-of-pearl elements are carefully painted on the reverse to introduce varying shades of enchanting blue, then intricately cut and delicately set into recesses skillfully carved directly into the dial. These flush inlays, artfully outlined in rose gold, serve to accentuate the organic iridescence of mother-of-pearl, a precious gift bestowed by the sea. This watch has a time-only display, with a Quartz movement, and comes with a blue alligator leather Strap, with a rose gold pin buckle set with diamonds.

Amongst the trio, the Divas' Dream Peacock jumping hours and retrograde minutes, is the largest, boasting a 37 mm case that is crafted from 18K rose gold. Its bezel, also fashioned from the same metal, is adorned with round brilliant-cut diamonds, while the lugs feature a harmonious combination of snow-cut diamonds and round brilliant-cut diamonds, totaling 2.88K in weight. The watch's crown is crafted from 18K rose gold and showcases a cabochon-cut tsavorite gemstone, adding a touch of green brilliance to this luxurious timepiece.

The peacock comes to life on the dial, embodying a harmonious fusion of horological and jewelry craftsmanship. Through a 3D marquetry, the peacock unfurls its resplendent tail in a display of antique-inspired artistry, with each component intricately curved to nestle within the layered structure. This figure is further adorned with a lavish array of rose gold, snow-set diamonds, aventurine glass, and malachite mineral. The creation of this watch was a highly intricate endeavor, demanding a full year of development and numerous iterations. Its unique watchmaking mechanism, anchored by the BVL 262 Manufacture movement, visible through the transparent caseback. The jumping hours gracefully appear in the aperture at 12 o’clock, while a retrograde hand is positioned at the upper part of the dial, indicating the minutes. To ensure the time display remains prominent, the stem of the retrograde hand is crafted from transparent sapphire, extended by a metallic tip. This timepiece is paired with a green alligator leather strap, with a rose gold folding buckle.
