Two New Dial Colors, Sage Green and Midnight Blue
The Girard-Perregaux Laureato, an iconic sports watch first introduced in 1975, has secured its place in watchmaking history. It debuted three years after Audemars Piguet launched the Royal Oak, one year before Patek Philippe introduced the Nautilus, and two years before Vacheron Constantin unveiled the Overseas. Over the years, the Laureato has evolved, with its most significant update occurring in 2017. Today, the collection is available in three sizes: 34mm, 38mm, and 42mm, with the 38mm model being a versatile mid-sized option.
Girard-Perregaux has now expanded the Laureato 38mm collection with two striking new models featuring dial colors previously reserved for the 42mm lineup.
Recently, the Swiss company also introduced two feminine editions of the Laureato 38mm, each featuring a diamond-set bezel. The first showcased a copper dial, while the second, created in collaboration with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, presented a limited-edition burgundy dial. These variations highlight the brand’s dedication to diversity and exclusivity.
The newest Laureato 38mm models feature Sage Green and Midnight Blue dials, housed in the signature stainless steel case with polished and satin-finished surfaces. Measuring 38mm in diameter and 10.02mm thick, the case retains the iconic octagonal bezel atop a raised circular base. With a water resistance of 100 meters, these models blend durability and elegance.
The dials maintain the collection’s hallmark Clous de Paris motif, a traditional design composed of pyramid-like structures that lend a captivating three-dimensional effect. The Sage Green dial exhibits subtle golden tones depending on the angle, while the Midnight Blue dial offers rich depth and versatility.
Both watches are equipped with baton-style hour and minute hands, along with matching indices, all coated with luminescent material for enhanced readability. The Sage Green variant includes a gold-plated GP logo and central seconds hand, adding warmth and refinement. In contrast, the Midnight Blue version opts for rhodium-plated accents for a sleek, modern aesthetic. The date window and inner flange are color-matched to the dial, ensuring a cohesive design.
Featuring a self-winding movement, the Caliber GP03300, this timepiece offers a glimpse of its inner workings through a transparent case-back, showcasing a wealth of intricate details. The main plate is adorned with circular graining, while various components exhibit bevelling, mirror polishing, satin finishing, snailing. The bridges are embellished with straight Côtes de Genève, and the pink gold oscillating weight is adorned with perlage. With a power reserve of at least 46 hours.
