Two luxurious releases in rose & yellow gold
In 2020, Czapek made its debut in luxury sports watches with the "Antarctique", embracing all the hallmarks of the genre with a uniquely shaped case, a captivating textured dial, and the brand's first in-house movement. During DWW 2023, the brand unveiled the "Antarctique Royal Onyx" watch, a refined timepiece encased in stainless steel. Now, on the occasion of Watches and Wonders 2024, Czapek is introducing the “Antarctique Gold Mount Erebus deep blue”, two gold versions of the Antarctique for the first time, adding an extra touch of elegance to an icon.
The mountain after which the new Antarctique 'Mount Erebus' is named stands as the southernmost active volcano on Earth and is among the exceedingly rare constantly active volcanoes worldwide. It is located on Ross Island within the frigid confines of Antarctica. An exceptional characteristic of this volcano is the occurrence of gold within its lava, which is ejected into the atmosphere.
As for the specification, the brand is introducing two different gold alloys to the Antarctique collection, a 2N yellow gold or a 5N rose gold. However both boast a classic yet contemporary design, measuring 40.5mm in diameter and 10.6mm in thickness, remaining faithful to its predecessors. The sapphire crystal, treated for anti-reflective properties on both sides, offers a crystal-clear view of the captivating dial. The screwed-down crown ensures water resistance up to 120 meters.
The deep blue dial features the iconic lamé finish introduced alongside the collection's launch four years ago, showcasing a straight pattern achieved through a lamé technique pioneered by Metalem three decades ago. Its highly textured satin finish combined with the blue hue is obtained through Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). Enhanced by luminescent "sword"-shaped hands and indexes, the dial not only ensures excellent readability but also exudes sophistication, complemented by a date window positioned at 6 o'clock.
At the heart of these watches lies the Caliber SXH5, Czapek's in-house automatic movement. This movement operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offers a power reserve of 60 hours, driven by a single barrel with a recycled platinum micro-rotor.
The Yellow Gold variant is limited to 50 pieces and priced at CHF 54,000, equivalent to AED 220,000 (with gold bracelet), and CHF 32,200, equivalent to AED 131,000 (with rubber strap). The Rose Gold counterpart is limited to 100 pieces and comes at a price of CHF 52,300, equivalent to AED 213,000 (with gold bracelet), and CHF 31,000, equivalent to AED 126,000 (with rubber strap).
