Bvlgari & MB&F Reimagine the Iconic Serpenti

Collaborations in watchmaking often bring together the creativity of a brand and its chosen partner, whether they be artists, athletes, or designers. However, it’s far rarer to see two well-known watchmaking powerhouses join forces. The partnership between Bvlgari and MB&F is a fascinating case, as both brands serve as creative forces in the industry with anything they put their hands on.

Their latest collaboration, the Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti, follows their 2021 partnership, which resulted in the MB&F x Bvlgari LM FlyingT Allegra launched at Dubai Watch Week. This time, the two brands reinterpret Bvlgari’s iconic Serpenti through the mechanical artistry of MB&F’s horological machines, merging biomorphic design with high-complication watchmaking in a way that only they can.

Credor is a name derived from the French Crête d'Or, meaning "pinnacle of gold." True to its name, Credor is dedicated to the highest standards of craftsmanship, combined with flair and style. The brand has a deep-rooted connection to master watch designer Gérald Genta, the iconic figure behind legendary timepieces like the Royal Oak and Nautilus.

The Locomotive was originally designed by Genta in 1978 and made a triumphant return in 2024 with a limited edition commemorating Credor's 50th anniversary. We've previously discussed the story that strengthened the bond between the brand and the designer (here). Building on that momentum, the new Credor Locomotive GCCR997 joins the permanent collection, now featuring a beautiful green dial.

Just like its predecessor, the watch features a hexagonal case crafted from high-intensity titanium, an alloy that is 30% lighter and more scratch-resistant than stainless steel. The case measures 38.8 mm in diameter and 8.9 mm in thickness, showcasing a sophisticated interplay of brushed and polished finishes.

Surrounding the sapphire crystal is a hexagonal bezel secured with six screws. Also secured by six screws, the solid titanium caseback ensures water resistance up to 100 meters.

The dial features a dark green hue, inspired by the green signal lights of railway systems, symbolizing the Locomotive’s role in advancing the Credor brand. The intricate hexagonal motif displays alternating striped patterns within each hexagon, creating a dynamic, shimmering effect as light interacts with the surface. The dial also includes luminous indices and hands to enhance legibility, along with a date window at 3 o’clock.

The watch is powered by Caliber CR01, an automatic movement based on the Seiko 6L35. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and offers a 45-hour power reserve. The watch comes with an integrated high-intensity titanium bracelet featuring hexagonal mid-links and a three-fold clasp.

Unlike its 2024 limited-edition predecessor, the GCCR997 is not a limited release. It joins Credor's permanent collection and will be available from May 2025 at a price of EUR 14,500, approximately AED 55,600.
