Open-Worked Dial Reveals the Beauty of the Iconic Movement
Many watch brands celebrated the upcoming of the Chinese New Year’s “Year of the Snake”, with special editions inspired by this occasion. One of the most prominent names to mark this event was “Corum”, a renowned Swiss watchmaker. that left its mark this year with a stunning release, the "Golden Bridge Classic Serpent", a watch that pays tribute to the snake symbol while showcasing the brand's iconic single-bridge movement, which is introduced first time in 1977 at the International Inventors' Fair in Geneva, the Golden Bridge movement, which was patented, has become a hallmark of Corum's dedication to both mechanical excellence and groundbreaking design.
The watch is housed in an elegant 5N 18k rose gold tonneau-shaped case, measuring 34mm in diameter, 51mm in length, and 11mm in thickness. The case is equipped with sapphire crystals on the front, back, and both sides, allowing a clear view of the intricate Golden Bridge movement within. The watch also features an 18k rose gold crown positioned at 6 o'clock, offering water-resistant up to 30 meters.
The open worked dial features a lush forest of 18K gold, crafted from hand-painted green leaves and vines, with a snake gracefully coiling around the iconic Golden Bridge movement. The movement bridge is engraved with the brand’s name and adorned with sword-shaped skeletonized hour and minute hands. The design shifts away from traditional dials, which typically include indicators and paths, placing the emphasis on the captivating vision of the bridge and the snake that wraps around it, creating a unique focal point.
The watch is powered by the Caliber CO 113, a hand-wound in-house movement that exemplifies precision and craftsmanship. It offers 40 hours of power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz). The movement features a patented construction with 190 individual parts and is made of 18k rose gold.
It comes with a brown alligator leather strap, and 5N 18K rose gold triple-blade folding clasp. This watch is a unique piece that will not be made again, and priced at CHF 250,000 approximately equivalent to AED 1,100,000.
