Expanding the C65 Dune collection with a Second Time Zone
Christopher Ward is a British brand that was established by the British watchmaker Christopher Ward. The company was launched in 2004, aiming to provide high-quality Swiss-made watches at more accessible prices by selling directly to consumers online, bypassing traditional retail markups. Since its launch, Christopher Ward has gained recognition in the watch industry for its craftsmanship and innovative designs.
The dune collection is by far the most famous collection from the brand, it presents 60s inspired timepieces that blend british design with swiss precision. Regardless of the model you select, each one features a 38mm case diameter, a lug-to-lug distance ranging from 43.6mm to 43.7mm, and a thickness varying between 11.7mm and 11.9mm.
In 2023, Christopher Ward unveiled the C65 Dune collection inspired by the 1970s sports watches. This year, the brand is broadening the Dune lineup by introducing a fresh dual time zone model, the C65 Dune GMT White Sand. Inspired by the field watches of the past, but engineered for the needs of today’s adventurers.
The timepiece boasts a brushed and polished stainless steel case with a 38mm in diameter, thickness of 11.9mm, and a lug-to-lug distance of 43.7mm, presenting a design suitable for various wrist sizes. Protecting the dial is a sapphire crystal. Additionally, the inclusion of a see-through caseback enhances its appeal, allowing the wearer to admire the intricate inner workings of the watch.
The white sand (beige) dial showcases an additional 24-hour hand in green at the center, accompanied by a peripheral 24-hour scale also in green, a date window at 6 o'clock. This function serves as the GMT feature, enabling you to monitor two time zones simultaneously, one with the standard hour hand and the other with the 24-hour hand. This functionality is particularly advantageous for travelers seeking to stay informed about their home time zone while away. Both the hands and indices are coated with Super-LumiNova allowing for clear readability in the dark.
The watch is powered by the Sellita caliber SW330-2, an automatic movement that operates at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and offers a power reserve of 56 hours. Through the case back, you can observe the rotor featuring the brand's name and logo engraved on it. The C65 Dune GMT White Sand comes with a leather or canvas webbing strap, giving the watch a price of USD 1,165, which is equivalent to AED 4,300. Additionally, the watch offers the option to be paired with a stainless steel bracelet, pricing it at USD 1,365, equivalent to AED 5,000.
