Two watches designed with Dubai’s ultra-modern, urban lifestyle
Carl F. Bucherer is a Swiss luxury watchmaker based in Lucerne, Switzerland. The company was founded in 1888 by Carl Friedrich Bucherer, and it has remained a family-owned business for generations. One of the brand's notable achievements is its development of the CFB T3000 movement, a world-first that combines a peripheral automatic winding system and a peripherally mounted tourbillon that appears to float.

On the occasion of Dubai Watch Week 2023, Carl F. Bucherer presented two unique pieces. The first is the Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral 'Green Paradise,' characterized by its dark green dial adorned with 11 tsavorite stones, a sapphire crystal, and rubies that radiate the colors of the rainbow, with a bezel that boasts 40 tsavorite stones, sapphire crystal, and rubies, adding to its allure. The second unique piece is the "Manero Minute Repeater," featuring a minute repeater complication. Notably, this watch is housed in a titanium case for the first time and showcases a grained pattern on the dial that is crafted from 18k white gold.
The “Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral Green Paradise” represents a unique rendition of a limited-edition watch initially launched in black earlier in 2023. While it retains the core characteristics of its predecessor, this timepiece takes center stage with a bezel adorned by an array of 40 baguette-cut gems, totaling 3.9 carats. These tsavorites, sapphires, and rubies, in their natural hues, have been arranged to form a captivating rainbow that gracefully encircles the dial. This timepiece is framed by an 18k white gold case measuring 43.10 mm in diameter and 11.57 mm in height. It also features a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both the front and case back.
One of the most noticeable distinctions when comparing it to its predecessor lies in its sunray dial, which now boasts a rich and opulent green hue. This choice of color holds cultural significance throughout the Middle East, resonating deeply with the region's heritage. Moreover, the dial's allure is further enhanced by the addition of 11 baguette-cut tsavorites, sapphires, and rubies, each weighing 0.4 carats, with colors that match their counterparts on the bezel. Positioned at the 12 o'clock is the tourbillon, which is surrounded by Rhodium-plated wedge hands.
The watch is driven by the in-house CFB T3000 movement. As a 'Double Peripheral' movement, it boasts two instances of Peripheral Technology, where the tourbillon is peripherally mounted, with an automatic winding system, powered by a peripherally mounted oscillating ring, offering 65 hours of power reserve. The watch is paired with a hand-stitched Louisiana alligator leather strap with square scales, and 18K white gold pinlock folding clasp.
The Manero Minute Repeater comes for the first time in a brushed and polished titanium case, measuring 43.8 mm in diameter and 12.48 mm in thickness. The watch is further adorned with a domed sapphire crystal featuring an anti-reflective coating on both front and case back. The dial is crafted from 18-karat white gold, with a grain pattern. It is elegantly complemented by rose gold hands and indices, enhancing its overall aesthetic appeal.
The “Manero Minute Repeater” features a 'Triple Peripheral', as we mentioned above regarding the Double Peripheral, this timepiece adds on a peripherally mounted minute repeater regulator, which serves as the beating heart behind one of the most astonishing achievements in horology, orchestrating miniature hammers that strike gongs to audibly represent hours, quarter hours, and minutes.
Powering the watch is the in-house CFB MR3000 caliber. Its assembly is a task that demands the expertise of the brand's most skilled watchmakers, taking them over a week to complete. Furthermore, achieving the optimal resonance for the gongs when struck required additional research and development to fine-tune the titanium case, ensuring its perfect harmony with the minute repeater's intricacies. This Automatic movement features an oscillating weight in 18K rose gold, and offers 65 hours of power reserve. The unique timepiece comes with a black hybrid rubber strap with ‘Milky Way’ texture and quick-release system, secured by a DLC coated titanium and stainless-steel pin-lock folding clasp.
