Introducing Blancpain Expands The Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Collection

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is an iconic diving watch introduced in the 1950s. It set the benchmark for professional dive watches, gaining fame as a trusted companion for divers exploring the depths. Blancpain soon followed up with the Bathyscaphe, a streamlined version of the Fifty Fathoms designed for everyday wear. The collection was discontinued in the late 1960s but made a return in 2013 with numerous innovative releases. Recently, the brand introduced a new set of Black Ceramic models, now expanded with captivating variants in blue and green.

 Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe 

Starting with the simpler variants, the release includes two models housed in black ceramic cases, featuring a unidirectional bezel with a ceramic insert available in either black or green. Measuring 43.6mm in diameter and 13.83mm in thickness, these watches offer excellent comfort, thanks to the high-tech ceramic material, which is nearly five times harder than stainless steel yet 25% lighter. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, while a sapphire crystal caseback provides a clear view of the movement. Additionally, the screw-down crown ensures an impressive water resistance of up to 300 meters.

The dials are available in either blue or green, both featuring a stunning gradient effect with a sunburst pattern. Lumed hands and indices ensure excellent legibility, complemented by a tilted date window positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock. Both models are powered by the in-house Calibre 1315 automatic movement, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offering an impressive 120-hour power reserve. 

These timepieces are equipped with a ceramic bracelet, priced at CHF 19,600 / AED 81,500, or can be paired with a NATO or sail-canvas strap for CHF 12,600 / AED 52,000.

 Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Chronograph

The second variant in this release is a chronograph featuring a blue dial, previously seen in green. Similar to the simpler models, the case is crafted from black ceramic and is topped with a unidirectional bezel with a black ceramic insert. It measures 43.6mm in diameter and 15.25mm in thickness. Both the dial and the case back are protected by sapphire crystals. The watch is equipped with two chronograph pushers, a screw-down crown, and boasts a water resistance of up to 300 meters.

The blue dial transitions gracefully to black, showcasing a striking gradient effect with a sunburst pattern. It features a classic tri-compax display and a tilted date window positioned at 4:30. Powering the watch is the in-house Calibre F385, an automatic flyback chronograph movement that operates at a high frequency of 36,000 vph (5Hz) and offers a 50-hour power reserve. 

The watch is priced at CHF 23,600 / AED 98,200 when paired with a ceramic bracelet or CHF 16,900 / AED 70,300 when equipped with a NATO or sail-canvas strap.
