Introducing Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Grand Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie

Two Exceptional Editions Showcasing the Maison’s Most Complex Sonnerie Mechanism

To celebrate its 150th anniversary, the Swiss luxury watch brand Audemars Piguet unveils five new editions in the Code 11.59 collection. Among them are two highly complex models, the "Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie," seamlessly blending traditional craftsmanship, advanced technology, and contemporary aesthetics. Additionally, the Code 11.59 collection introduces a new perpetual calendar model equipped with an entirely new movement developed in-house, alongside a tourbillon edition and two stainless steel versions.

Coinciding with this milestone celebration, Audemars Piguet also presents new additions to the Royal Oak collection, including two Offshore models, an openworked edition, and two perpetual calendar watches.

These timepieces showcase an elegant fusion of precious and modern materials, including black ceramic, rose gold, and sand gold. The dials take center stage, with one model featuring an exceptional dial crafted from rare opal stone, while another reveals the intricate mechanics of its movement through a transparent sapphire dial adorned with fine contrasting details. These masterpieces are powered by a hand-wound movement, supported by the Supersonnerie mechanism, delivering an acoustic performance reminiscent of traditional pocket watches. This patented technology was developed in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL).

Both editions come in a 41mm case with a thickness of 13.6mm, featuring the distinctive Code 11.59 design that combines straight lugs with a polished bezel. The first edition, equipped with a green dial, is crafted entirely from rose gold, while the second edition features an 18-carat sand gold case with a black ceramic middle case and crown. The caseback of both editions is engraved with a special inscription commemorating the brand’s 150th anniversary.

The first edition boasts an 18-carat rose gold case, crowned with a rare "Harlequin" opal stone dial, radiating vibrant green reflections. This natural stone is named after the famous character from the 16th-century Commedia dell'arte, known for its wit and colorful patchwork costume. The dial displays bright patches of green, blue, red, and yellow, enhancing its uniqueness, complemented by a shimmering green inner bezel. The 18-carat rose gold hands harmonize with the polished case, which bears the engraved 150th-anniversary emblem on the caseback.

The second edition features an 18-carat sand gold case with a black ceramic inner structure and crown. It showcases a transparent sapphire dial, blending shades of sand gold, black, and gray, giving it a contemporary geometric appeal. This edition includes a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, while the gold hands and hour markers, filled with luminescent material, ensure optimal readability at all times.

Both "Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie" editions are powered by the hand-wound Caliber 2956. This sophisticated movement integrates the complications of Grande Sonnerie and Carillon, alongside the patented Supersonnerie technology, first introduced in the Royal Oak Concept RD#1 collection in 2015. This innovative movement consists of 498 meticulously hand-finished components, reflecting Audemars Piguet’s commitment to the highest standards of craftsmanship and innovation.

The Grande Sonnerie mechanism automatically chimes the hours and quarter-hours without requiring user intervention. The Carillon mechanism features three hammers and three gongs, allowing it to produce triple tones (high, mid, low) every quarter-hour, rather than the traditional two tones. Additionally, the "Petite Sonnerie" mode offers the option to chime only the hours, with the ability to mute the chime entirely using the silent mode. Furthermore, the wearer can activate the minute repeater function on demand via the pusher at 10 o’clock.

The Supersonnerie technology was developed in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) to enhance acoustic performance and recreate the auditory experience of classic pocket watches. This patented innovation took eight years of research and development, involving watchmakers, engineers, musicians, and acoustics specialists. It achieves a unique sound purity through an innovative case structure, where the gongs are mounted on a special soundboard rather than directly on the main plate of the movement. This enhances sound propagation and ensures a smooth and precise chime when striking the hours and minutes.

The opal dial edition is paired with a green alligator leather strap, while the skeletonized dial edition comes with a black fabric strap, both secured with a gold folding clasp. Pricing is available upon request.
