The C1 Bel Canto Special Edition Featuring Eastern Arabic Numerals for the First Time
Doha Watch Club has launched of their first special edition: the Doha Watch Club C1 Bel Canto as a Bespoke Project with Christopher Ward. C1 Bel Canto edition the winner of the GPHG 2023 Petite Aiguille prize. This special timepiece features Eastern Arabic numerals for the first time in this collection and has a color scheme inspired by the sea of the Qatari peninsula.
This special edition for the Qatari club joins many other notable editions for the Khaliji country. Previously, we have seen the unique one-of-one piece made by Biver for Qatar and the special edition from Tag Heuer for Qatar, featuring the colors of the famous Qatari flag.
Mentioning Qatar, we must highlight the shining brand in the watch industry, Beda’a, and their beautiful timepieces. Beda’a Eclipse watch was nominated in the GPHG Petite Aiguille prize 2024, the same category the C1 Bel Canto edition won last year.
The timepiece boasts a brushed and polished case made from grade 5 titanium, sized at 41mm, marrying strength with aesthetics. Its caseback is stamped with the Doha Watch Club logo. At the 2 o’clock position, the push-down crown to set the time is elegantly adorned with a twin flag motif, while a 4 o’clock-positioned pusher activates or deactivates the chiming complication. An anti-reflective domed sapphire crystal safeguards the dial, the thickness of the watch is 13 mm, optimizing readability while ensuring durability against scratches and glare.
The Bel Canto DWC showcases an open-worked dial in a blue color, The dial's color is inspired by the sea of the Qatari peninsula, with a fume effect transitioning between turquoise and darker blue. The base is sunray finished, while the gongs are mirror polished, and the time displayed on an off-centered subdial at 12 o'clock features Eastern Arabic numerals for the first time in this collection. The Power reserve indicator at 4 o'clock, with hands in burgundy color inspired by the Qatar flag.
Equipped with a self-winding movement Sellita SW200-1, and FS01 chiming module, the timepiece chimes on the hour. Its floating time display showcases the fully visible mechanism, complemented by hand-finished bridges, a spring, and a hammer. Operating at 28,800 VpH and offering a 38-hour power reserve, The jewels used in the movement also come with purple sapphire stones.
