In SIHH 2015, A. Lange & Söhne achieved a horological milestone by unveiling the world's first platinum Zeitwerk Minute Repeater, uniting a jumping numerals display with a decimal minute repeater. Five years later, the brand unveiled a limited edition of 30 pieces, featuring a white gold case and a striking blue dial.
This year, the brand introduces another limited edition of 30 pieces. The Zeitwerk Minute Repeater, with a case crafted from the brand's exclusive Honeygold alloy, which was developed in 2010. This luxurious alloy is composed of 75% pure gold with carefully balanced proportions of copper and zinc, making it harder than titanium and other gold alloys.
The Zeitwerk Minute Repeater features a brushed and polished 18k Honeygold case that maintains the same dimensions as its predecessors, measuring 44.2mm in diameter and 14.1mm in height. It includes a crown positioned at 2 o'clock for winding and time adjustment, while a pusher at 10 o'clock activates the decimal minute repeater. The watch is equipped with sapphire crystal on both the front and back and boasts water resistance of up to 30 meters.
The gray dial is adorned with a rhodium-plated silver time bridge that elegantly presents the jumping hours on the left and the jumping minutes on the right. Enhancing the design further, the watch boasts 18k Honeygold hands, a small seconds subdial placed at the curve of the time bridge, and a power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock. In addition, the timepiece showcases exposed gongs that surround the dial, with hammers positioned at 5 and 7 o'clock.
At heart of this timepiece is the in-house caliber L043.5, a manual-winding movement that features a patented constant-force escapement situated between the barrel and the balance wheel. This component serves as a pacemaker, orchestrating the precise one-minute advancement of the numerals discs, beating at a rate of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). When fully wound, the movement offers a 36 hours of power reserve, ensuring that this watch keeps ticking with precision and grace. However, when the watch's power reserve falls below 12 hours, indicated by the power reserve arrow reaching the red dot, the minute repeater mechanism ceases to operate.
