Niello

Is a black alloy composed of copper and silver, often blended with copper to enhance its durability. It is commonly used as a layer on engraved or embossed metal surfaces. Lead sulfides can also be added to the mixture.

Niello is applied as a decorative element in watches, creating stunning black designs against a metallic background. This technique has been historically used in antique or vintage watches to showcase intricate craftsmanship and add artistic flair to the watch's appearance.
